Many of you know and love one of POP’s favorite musicians, Jeff Lyke, who recently underwent major surgery in June to remove cancer from his salivary gland and reconstruct part of his mouth. We’re coming together as a community to show our support and help his family with the estimated $40,000 not covered by medical insurance. After spending years playing in orchestras and teaching orchestra music, this foursome decided it was time to learn some chamber music and so, the
BowVision String Quartet was created. Playing violin are orchestra teachers, Rachel Bierkan and Jessica Cox. Playing viola is Erin Houterloot. On cello is Julie Puntenney. The group originally met as students at UC’s College Conservatory of Music and then reconnected as members of the Cincinnati Community Orchestra. Now they play by their own rules as a string quartet.
BowVision String Quartet has performed around Cincinnati at weddings, at bookstores, at retirement communities, at churches always playing for pure enjoyment. Sharing music with others is the greatest gift.
Gather in the POP Community Garden for a light potluck and relaxed worship—rain or shine (or inside if needed). Dinner is at 6, followed by a simple time of prayer and worship. All are welcome. No time to cook? Come anyway!
Join with other ladies from POP (and friends) to celebrate your birthdays, gather supplies for birthday celebrations for children who might not have one, and get to know each other in a fun way.
Friending is a chance to meet other ladies by speed friending. Yep, it’s what you think. We will sit across from each other and discuss questions to begin possible friendships. Or at least, have a lot of fun and get to know each other by more than “which service do you attend?” (Nametags will help us all.)
Frosting is celebrating your birthday with sweets and snacks here at POP. We will also be collecting items for the Tiger Birthday Bundles. Tiger Birthday Bundle provides birthday gifts to kids whose families use LIFE and NEST services. The bags include items like a stuffed animal, a book, earbuds for older kids, age-appropriate toys, games or crafts. The bags are given to kids aged 1-18, with boys aged 12-18 being the least bags available. As a 501c-3, all gifts are donated through monetary donations or (most often!) our Amazon wish list. The goal is to bring joy to a child on their birthday! Here is the link for the wish list: Link
