Advent

Advent is a season of preparation for the coming of Christmas and for the fulfillment of God’s loving promise for the restoration of the world. This page is filled with ways that individuals and families can join us in our preparations this year.

Heaven’s Earthly Life

“It gets darker and darker, and then Jesus is born."

+ Wendell Berry

Follow along with our community Advent Devotional Book and weekly themes. This year we’ll be reflecting on the poetry of Wendell Berry through the Devotion entitled Heaven’s Earthly Life. You can access the online devotional and links to the poems for each week by clicking on the image above or the link below. You can also pick up a printed copy at the the church.

A children’s devotional book will be available in the Gathering space as well.

In late September, Hurricane Helene hit the coast of Florida as a Category 4 hurricane, ravaging communities in the southeast, from Florida to Virginia. As the floodwaters have started to recede, the extreme devastation — especially in North Carolina and Tennessee — has become clearer. Entire towns, roads and bridges have been washed away, and millions are without power and cell service. Whatever unfolds because of this storm, Lutheran Disaster Response will be there. Lutheran Disaster Response has strong relationships in the region and is already at work on the ground. Working alongside synods and other partners, Lutheran Disaster Response is prepared to provide support throughout the impacted region. We anticipate that our greatest impact will be reaching those in underserved and rural areas.

In March of 2025, a group of adults from Prince of Peace will be heading to Asheville area to serve with Lutheran Disaster Response.  To learn more about this trip, reach out to Mary Ellen Helms.

Help Light the Advent Wreath

Would your family consider lighting the Advent Wreath this coming season?  All you would need to do is arrive 5-10 minutes before the service to speak with the pastors and then light the candles at the start of the service. This is a great way for individuals, families, and couples to participate in worship as we ponder the light of Christ.

If you’d like to participate, sign up directly at this link.
