Walk into our sanctuary and you’ll immediately notice a structure that is central to our identity as Christians: the baptismal font. Families gather around the font when children and adults are baptized, people dip their fingers in it and make the sign of the cross upon their foreheads, and worshippers are reminded of their baptism on a weekly basis.
Parents of young children who are baptized are told:
|
As you bring your children to receive the gift of baptism, you are entrusted with responsibilities:
|
|
|
to live with them among God’s faithful people,
|
|
|
bring them to the word of God and the holy supper, |
| |
teach them the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments, |
| |
place in their hands the holy scriptures |
| |
and nurture them in faith and prayer, |
| |
so that your children may learn to trust God, |
| |
proclaim Christ through word and deed, |
| |
care for others and the world God made, |
| |
and work for justice and peace. |

As a congregation, we intend to partner with parents and support them as they raise their children in their new lives in Christ. Prince of Peace Lutheran Church offers Sunday School for children and adults, worship opportunities for families, a journey through catechism for young teenagers, service events for every ability, and a variety of occasions for families to strengthen their faith. Through personal experiences and relationships, we intend to build mature disciples of Christ.
